Mixed Bag

Today I woke up to the tragic news about the devastating fire that destroyed the Provo Tabernacle.

If you know Provo at all, you know what a huge loss this is. For me personally, it's part of my childhood and teen years as well that went up in flames. We had stake conference there. I graduated from seminary there. Friends performed in concerts. Others competed in piano competitions.

So many memories.

And that's not even considering the historical loss. I hope they rebuild (if they don't, the center of Provo will have a massive hole in it, emotionally and visually), but even if they do, the original pioneer woodwork, the old organ, all of that . . . gone.

On a slightly happier note, sweet friend Sherry Ann Miller posted a review of Chocolate Never Faileth on her blog, Miller's Musings. She came up with holiday gift ideas for my recipes, things that never occurred to me.

Deirdra Coppel interviewed me on her blog the other day, A Story Book World. (I must say, she asked some fun questions.)

What? No! That's really sad.

I've only been to the tabernacle a few times, but the loss of that history hurts my heart. :(

I just can't get the image out of my head - The Provo Tabernacle is where my husband's BYU graduation was held... in a small way I consider that building the beginning of our adult lives together because it was the first time we'd actually talked about what to do next...

it will be missed - my weekend visit to Provo will be a much sadder time to be sure!

That is absolutely heartbreaking. It must be hard to even enjoy your good news with such a cloud hanging over it.

But I hope you will. Life goes on...and good news is good news.

Which is what makes the bad news bearable.

=)

I am so sad about the Tabernacle. My coworker told me about it this morning, and I hadn't had a chance to see the pictures until just now.

I only went there a couple of times, for a concert my husband was singing in when we were first married. It was a lovely old building. I'm sad that this happened to it.

Oh No! That is terrible news. I hope they rebuild it but like you said all the original historical pioneer design will have been lost. So sad! How did the fire start?
