I have a post I'm thinking about doing, but I'm not sure whether I dare write it or put it up here. It might get me a lot of hate mail. But then, I'm so opinionated, I'm not sure I'll be able to not talk about it.
You probably already know the topic. Yeah. That one.
Hmm. Still on the fence.
In the meantime, I've got a new contest up on my website. You'll want to enter this one. Really, truly.
Whitney Award-winner Josi S. Kilpack has a new book coming out next month. I had a chance to read it awhile go, and it's most definitely another keeper.
I can state my opinion on this one, because Josi's on the Whitney committee this year, and therefore her book isn't eligible to win an award. So yay for opinions! I loved the story! Read it!
Josi's known for taking issues that are big and working awesome plots around them. If you recall, her last book, Sheep's Clothing, was about internet predators. The plot of that one still freaks me out.
This time, Her Good Name even has its own blog addressing the latest issue.
So here's the deal:
Visit the Her Good Name blog at the link above. Poke around a bit and see what it's all about. Then go to this page of my website and answer the question you'll find there in the form provided.
All correct answers will be part of drawing to receive an autographed copy of the book later this fall. (One entry per person. And yes, I do pay attention to them.)
Enjoy!

Hi. So I tried to enter the contest. I really, really did. But the submission form on your website hates me. It insisted that I provide my email address. I did, in several iterations. But then it would still insist. So...I'll try again later?
Eep! That stinks. I wonder what's wrong. :(
If it doesn't work later (and for anyone else it doesn't work for), just e-mail me the answer to
annette at annette lyon dot com
(Melanie, thanks for letting me know!)
Luckily I already won a copy of her book from the title contest she held awhile back ... I can't wait to read it :) !!
Silly me, that was something else I won. I am off to enter the contest ... I blame it on the post partum brain.
So what's keeping you from posting on that first topic? "That one." A little controversy can be a good thing. And you might just find a few people who share your views.
Contest and book are both tempting me now.
thanks for the heads-up.
p.s. your contest form rejected me too. So I tried the newsletter form. Same problem.
I finally figured out the contest form. Well, sort of. What happens is that I have sit next to me when I'm complaining about something doesn't work and then it does. You know, like when you loosen the lid on a jar for someone else?
I meant, I have my HUSBAND sit next to me. And I actually proofread that first.
I entered.
And I'd love to read what you think about something, even if it is controversial and people will hate you.
Ummmm, how come I don't know what "that one" is? And I say GO FOR IT! A little controversy never hurt anyone. (Seriously, have you seen the comments on my latest post? Controversy=traffic. I love traffic.) I'm DYING to know what it is we're talking about (or... NOT talking about) here!
And I'm a big fan of Josi's... I bet the book is fantastic.
Click on the link at "that one" and you'll see.
But one word will say it all: vampires!
I love a contest! Thanks!
Oh, and LOVED your hesitant reader article on Desert Saints. Great advice.
May I just say, your site rocks?
