The Link! The Link!

As promised, I'm posting the link to the annual Funds for Writers essay contest, which I won. (Yippee!)

I recommend subscribing to the Funds for Writers newsletter and blog. (You can do that from the link above as well.) Both are great resources for writers.

Now I have to decide how to spend the prize money. Hmm . . .

That was beautiful. I related to the essay in so many ways and it really did make me smile- and tear. Any mom who is a writer has felt that way- that their life is a mystery to the ones they love the most. And yet it's a bridge that will let them enter your heart in a way nothing else can.

Thanks for sharing this with the world.

Read it, loved it, and hope one day my kids will read my stuff so I'll be able to relate even more.

That's so neat. The mom behind the curtain. What an awesome way for your kids to really get to know you. That was such an interesting perspective. And how exciting that you will watch that happen three more times.

Oh, Annette. I'm bawling all over myself. That is so beautiful! When you said he laughed out loud, I started weeping. By the end, I'm virtually howling. Well done, friend. Well done.

As for spending your prize money, well you've earned it! You spend it on whatever you like!

I just read your article too. I'm blind already, woman! Crying only makes it worse!

On a serious note, Annette, you're an angel. Those are the kind of Christmas gifts I'd like to give this year too. Thank you.

I loved it, Annette. I hope I have a moment with my kids like that some day. Segullah has a writing contest going on right now, you know... deadline Dec. 31. :-)

Fab entry. You are a true writing mama. Loved it, esp the moment when your son laughed. Congrats again!!

Holy crap. That was a great essay -- and an even better moment for you. If your liked your book(s) so much, your daughters are going to LOVE them. House on the Hill is still one of my favorite books.

Loved it, sniffling. My oldest (17, girl, within my target audience) refused to read my first novel because it changed my focus so much... being a stay-at-home mom doting on housework, kids, and cooking-- to a writer.
Then, when the publishers liked it, asking for revisions... she saw it was real, and when I asked her to read it for editing (she's a stickler already), I watched, and when she smiled, and laughed and wrinkled her brow and gave me ideas... it was amazing... I felt I could do this.
I felt validated.
Excellent essay. I'll share it with my kids. Thank you!
