You Want to Read This One--Oh, Yes, You Do!

I have 3 fun things to announce today:

1) The Her Good Name contest is now closed. The winner of a free, autographed copy of this awesome Josi. S. Kilpack novel is Cathy J!
Congratulations!

(I'll be sending a notice out to my newsletter subscribers soon in case she doesn't see her name here.)

Which leads me to:

2) A NEW contest is now up on my site. This time the winner will get the complete, unabridged audio book (on CD) of J. Scott Savage's new hit fantasy, Farworld.

(You know you want it! It's a great book!)

How to enter:

Go to the contest page on my website and read the instructions there. You'll need to find the answer to a trivia question on the Farworld website (you'll find a link to it from my contest page).

When you find the answer, type it into the contest form, click "submit," and you're entered!

One entry per person, and no one in far-off countries, please. My postage budget can't take it. :)

"Far-off" is defined as in another continent. Canada isn't "far-off" in my book, in case you're wondering.

Good luck!

3) Finally, THIS weekend, (Friday and Saturday, November 21-22) is the 5th Annual Utah Chocolate Show at the South Towne Expo Center. It's run by my older sister Mel, and in the first years of the show, I was her assistant director (until stuff like life as a writer got in the way).

The show is loads of fun for any chocolate lover. You want to go. Trust me on this one.

Find out more at the Utah Chocolate Show website.

I saw a chocolate show sign in salt lake and smiled thinking of you. You have got two fabulous books posted here for your contests. I commend your excellent taste :)

Wow. Sounds fun. I think I'll join if I don't lose my way around. I'm hopeless when it comes to link-hopping :-) A chocolate show! Too bad I don't live in Utah, but I'll make sure my MIL and SILs know. They love chocolate.

First, I am sort of freaked out that Blogger decided to capitalize the letters in our sign on names.

Second, I have been to that chocolate fair before. I was sadly disappointed.

So Poland isn't really far off, is it? Just kidding, but I DO enter contests because if I ever win anything I can give U.S. addresses. In your case I can even give a Provo address so you don't even have to ship it! Just drop by when you're in town. See? SO budget friendly! :)

I could totally go for a chocolate show. Not sure how one could be disappointed in it, unless there was no chocolate or something.

KristinaP, I'm sorry to hear that. I'm guessing I know when you went--we had a major problem with some of the vendors one year, which many people complained about. We were as miffed as the attendees. There are often things that happen that are largely out of the production team's control. Other times, the show is just not someone's cup of tea, and that's okay.

On the other hand, we've had families hang out for six hours, going to classes, demos, the hands-on workshop, the chocolate fountain wonderland, and so on. Last year people thought the wedding cake competition (in its first year) was pretty cool. Every year what's there changes. Since I'm not working with the show this year, I don't know what's happening with it, but I will be going. My kids love it.

So sorry to hear it wasn't fun for you.

Annette, thanks so mych for your response! I somehow missed that it is run by your sister, so now I feel like an idiot.

This was several years ago that I went, and I think that it was pretty new. The problem we had was that many of the vendors had nothing to do with chocolate or food at all, so it was a disappointment and not what we were expecting.

However, it sounds like things have vastly improved and that it would be a lot of chocolatey goodness fun! I might have to hit it up again.

this chocolate show sounds like it could end up being a cyber friend reunion/intro. I think I will have to find a way to be there. Thanks for the information.'

with the book, do you have to have read the book to answer the questions. Thanks for the fun in cyber world.

Kristina,
That's one issue that's driven us crazy, as well. We'd have a resort want to come, and we'd say, "Well, you aren't chocolate." And they'd come back with, "We'll offer a chocolate spa package and do a big chocolate basket giveaway and give a huge chocolate bar to anyone who signs up for our presentation." So we'd say okay, and then they arrive and their only connection to chocolate is a bowl of Hershey's kisses on the table. Grrrr.

in time out--No, you don't have to read Farworld to enter the contest and answer the question. The contest page has instructions on where to find the answer on the Farworld website. It's a really easy question to answer, I promise!

I hope I win! I think my son would have the best time listening to the audiobook on our next road trip.

Have fun at the chocolate show. My thighs are thankful I'm not going.
